Our Story

Refqan was born out of necessity and compassion in 2020, a year that saw the world grappling with the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the crisis unfolded, countless animals found themselves abandoned and left to fend for themselves on the streets. Witnessing this heart-wrenching situation, we took it upon ourselves to step in and make a difference.

From humble beginnings, we started rescuing and saving animals in distress, providing much-needed medical treatments to those injured and ensuring they received the care they deserved. This endeavor was funded entirely out of our own pockets, driven by a deep-seated commitment to animal welfare. Our efforts extended beyond borders as we undertook the responsibility of rehoming animals overseas, giving them a second chance at life in loving homes.

As the years went by, our mission evolved. We recognized that to create a lasting impact, we needed to address the root causes of animal abandonment and overpopulation. This led us to focus on education and advocacy, spreading awareness about the benefits of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs. We engaged with communities, educating pet owners and the public about how TNR can help control stray populations humanely and sustainably, ultimately fostering a healthier coexistence between humans and animals.

In 2023, our journey took a natural and significant step forward with the establishment of Refqan, a name that embodies our mission and values. Derived from the Arabic word meaning "Be Kind," Refqan represents our unwavering commitment to animal welfare and our dedication to supporting our cause. Our name reflects the care and compassion that have always been at the heart of our work.

Today, Refqan stands as a beacon of hope and compassion, continuing to rescue and rehabilitate animals, advocate for humane solutions to animal population control, and educate communities on responsible pet ownership.
